Kim Kardashian and other celebrities are receiving criticism when it was revealed that they had exceeded their home water limits during the California drought, according to a report.

According to reports, Kim's properties consumed nine years' worth of water in a single month, while millions of Californians continue to be subject to stringent water restrictions because of the ongoing drought.

The Los Angeles Times published an article earlier this week about some celebrities' excessive water use in the midst of California's ongoing, record-breaking drought.

Since January, the state's 58 counties are all covered by a drought emergency proclamation. Californians must follow additional rules that went into effect in June in order to protect the little amount of water that is still accessible.

To name just a few of the rules in place, authorities have advised residents to refrain from overwatering trees and plants and to switch irrigation systems off while it is raining.

Given this context, as reported by the LA Times, many internet users were horrified to learn about the excessive water usage of numerous celebrities during the recent drought.

The publication claims that the Las Virgenes Municipal Water District, which manages the water service for Calabasas, Hidden Hills, and other LA suburbs, gave the well-known individuals official notices about their restrictions. Over 2,000 consumers apparently received these "notices of exceedance" in May and June.

Among the celebrities in question were Kim and Kourtney Kardashian, whose combined water usage this summer reportedly surpassed their limitations by more than 300,000 gallons.

To put things in perspective, the average person uses roughly 3,000 gallons of water per month, but common household issues like dripping faucets or running toilets can waste tens of thousands more.

According to reports, two of Kim's Hidden Hills mansions exceeded their water allotment by 230,000 gallons, while Kourtney's 2-acre Calabasas residence exceeded its allotment by 101,000 gallons. When BuzzFeed News contacted the sisters for comment regarding these numbers, no one from their team responded right away.

According to a statement given to the LA Times by Sylvester's lawyer, Marty Singer, these figures may "mischaracterize and mislead the circumstances of the water usage" at the actor's residence.

More than 500 mature trees, including numerous fruit and pine trees, may be found on the property, according to Singer. If not given enough water, they would probably perish. That can cause damaged or dead trees to fall onto my client's land or nearby properties.

"My consumer has taken proactive and responsible action in this issue. They have allowed the grass to die, and drip irrigation is used to water other areas,” He continued. Additionally, they informed the city about the mature trees. They are now waiting for an examination and further guidance from the city on how to proceed.

"I'm certain that the larger homes in the neighborhood have the same problems. Therefore, I am confident that my client won't be unfairly singled out in the narrative just because he happens to be well-known," Singer said. However, the couple of actor Gabrielle Union and former basketball player Dwayne Wade used an astounding 489,000 gallons of water in May, according to reports.

The couple's $18 million Hidden Hills property allegedly used up an additional 90,000 gallons in June, exceeding their water restrictions by 1,400%.

The spokesman for Dwayne and Gabrielle released a statement in response to the startling statistics, stating that they have been doing "everything" they can to "rectify the situation," and then they promised to make sure that this "isn't an issue moving ahead."They declared, "We have been working hard to put things right, and we will keep working hard to do so. To reduce water use,

"We redesigned the entire pool system. components that [have] to do with water flow and leaks in addition to switching to synthetic grass and drought-tolerant plants."
